Boulder Hockey Club Announces Re-Introduction of 16AA Team For 2024-2025 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOULDER HOCKEY CLUB (BHC) ANNOUNCES RE-INTRODUCTION

OF 16AA TEAM FOR UPCOMING 2024-2025 SEASON

Tier II Nationally Bound Team To Be Led By Experienced Head Coach Duncan McIntosh

SUPERIOR, CO, APRIL 1, 2024 – Bolstering its commitment to fostering elite-level youth hockey in the local community, Boulder Hockey Club is excited to announce the re-introduction of its Tier II nationally bound 16AA team for the upcoming season. Back by popular demand, this marks a significant milestone in the club’s growth and presents an exciting opportunity for young athletes aspiring to compete at the high levels of the sport.

The 16U AA team will compete in both the CAHA 16U AA league and the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF) 16U AA league, offering players a platform to showcase their skills in regional and national competitions. The season will include a minimum of 12 AHF league games plus playoffs, CAHA league games plus playoffs, select tournaments / showcases, and added scrimmages depending on schedule availability.

Under the guidance of experienced Head Coach Duncan McIntosh, the team will benefit from a comprehensive training program designed to maximize player development and performance. With three practices per week, plus additional weekend practices, players will receive specialized on-ice instruction tailored to enhance their skills and strategic understanding of the game.

Coach Duncan McIntosh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Boulder Hockey Club. Currently serving as Assistant Coach for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders Tier 1 U16 & U15 teams, McIntosh holds a Level-4 USA Hockey Coach certification and has been instrumental in the development of youth hockey players for over four seasons. His background as a former RoughRiders player and NCAA Division III ice hockey athlete at Worcester State University and the University of Colorado, Boulder, provides him with unique insights into the demands and challenges of competitive hockey at various levels.

“We are thrilled to re-introduce the 16AA team to the Boulder Hockey Club family and provide young athletes with the opportunity to pursue their hockey aspirations at an elite level,” says Neil Runbeck, Boulder Hockey Club Executive Director. “With Coach McIntosh’s leadership and expertise, we are confident that our players will thrive both on and off the ice, developing the skills, discipline, and resilience necessary for success in hockey and beyond.”

In addition to on-ice training, players will have full access to professionally led off-ice training sessions through Impact Sports Performance, as well as team video sessions, nutrition, and sport psychology sessions facilitated by industry professionals.

BHC is joining the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF)

We are reaching out with exciting news: BHC is joining the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF).

AHF Press Release

An opportunity has arisen for BHC to enrich our local Colorado league schedule by incorporating additional games (showcases) for our AA (12U, 14U, 16U) teams through joining the Atlantic Hockey Federation. The decision to align with the AHF was made after careful consideration of our members' interests and with a commitment to the advancement of our club. It's crucial to emphasize that BHC's involvement in the AHF does not replace our participation in local Colorado league play but rather serves as an exciting complement to it.

We firmly believe that engaging in the AHF will afford our players enhanced development opportunities, exposure to a broader spectrum of competition, and a platform to demonstrate their skills on a larger stage. While we eagerly embark on this new venture, we want to assure all our members that BHC's dedication to local hockey and our Colorado league play remains unwavering. Moreover, we anticipate that these additional games will not incur extra travel or expenses, as they will replace existing travel tournaments.

We recognize that you may have questions or concerns, and we are fully committed to addressing them openly and transparently. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any inquiries you may have.

We are immensely enthusiastic about the prospects that lie ahead for Boulder Hockey Club and its members, and we intend to furnish further details shortly. Together, we will continue to thrive, evolve, and achieve excellence both on and off the ice. Thank you for your steadfast support and dedication to our club.

Warm Regards,

Neil Runbeck, Executive Director
